Fatahillah Museum, also known as the Jakarta History Museum or the Museum of Batavia, which is located at Jalan Taman Fatahillah No. 2, West Jakarta, an area of more than 1300 square meters.
This building was once the Stadhuis or City Hall, built in 1707-1710 by order of Governor-General Johan Van Hoorn. City Hall building is similar to the Dam Palace in Amsterdam, consisting of the main building with the two wings in the east and west as well as sanding buildings used as offices, courtrooms, and underground spaces are used as a prison.
On March 30, 1974, this building was later formalized as Fatahillah Museum.
Building architecture style of the 17th century Baroque-style classic with three ground floor with yellow paint, windows and door frames of teak wood dark green.
The main roof has a pointer part to every wind direction. The museum has a total area of more than 1300 square meters. With the yard contained a swimming decorated some old tree.
Jakarta History Museum building was built in 1620 by the Governor General Jan Pieterszoon Coen as the courthouse square into two in the year 1626 (the first town hall was built in 1620 near East Kalibesar). According to historical records, this building is only single-stage and second-level development is built later date. Year 1648 is very bad condition of the building.

Later this bangunaan used interchangeably among others; During the Japanese occupation in 1925-1942 is used as the office of West Java province. During the Japanese occupation in 1942-1945 is used as the headquarters Kempetai DAI NIPPON (Japan Navy Headquarters).
In the year 1945-1963 is used as the Office of the Governor of West Java. Years 1964-1972 are used as military headquarters, then made the 0503 West Jakarta District Military Command Headquarters.
Year 1972 submitted to the Regional Government of DKI Jakarta, renovated in 1973 and on 30 March 1974 inaugurated the Museum of History of Jakarta.
